It's that time of the year again.
First of, sorry for not having been on here in a while. I got a new job last march (2014) and it has consumed me in a huge way. It has in a large way taken most of my day and so much out of me that it has been hard to be creative at home. On the flip side, I have had the opportunity to be creative at work. Not exactly a trade-off but still pretty cool.
I recently attended two comic book shows this year. The first in May and the other in April and these have been by far more successful for me than ever before. Motor City Comic Con and Cherry Capitol Con were not only a lot of fun but have surpassed my records in income greatly.
So what's next? Well SDCC San Diego Comic Con
is just around the corner starting July 9th and I have to tell you, although I want to be excited and enthusiastic about the show because I'm taking le wify for the first time with, I can't help feeling like it just won't be as awesome.
Over the last few years Deviant Art has come to our rescue in artist alley at SDCC making us not only feel like we were part of the show, but also like we were as important as any other element in the show. We could feel that fans and other artist cared about our success and creativity and that we were not only privileged but more so recognized for our contributions to Comics, Movies, Tv, and all other types of media. I mean let's be honest, that is our goal, to get ideas, visions and feelings out onto a visible/audible/legible art form to connect with others.
This year Deviant Art has had such huge growth and change that they will not be able to join as Con. I definitely think that not having their support and energy around will change the show and make it as it was before. A show where the large companies and studios who we do the very thing that we do will once again try to push out further and take our space. They don't see the art or people, they only see the money that a show like this can generate forgetting who started it in the first place. Deviant Art had stepped in on its white horse with shinning armor and defended us. They made us belong and for that I can only say:
DEVIANT ART -Thank you, Thank you for supporting us, for believeing in us, for making us proud of what we do and letting us belong again.
Anyway, for those who are stopping by the show anyway, common buy and check me out in Artist Alley EE07
So whats all the excitement about?
So why am I blogging? Well the truth is I have never been so excited to attend a con. Recently a company that is based around the fandom of a TV show Spartacus that was on STARZ has decided to have a convention and recruit the cast from the show so that all of us fans can come together, meet and greet them. But that's not the best part. I have been selected to join the show with a small cast of Artist to showcase our works at the show.So who will be there you ask? Liam McIntyre Spartacu, Manu Bennett Crixus, Dan Feuerriegel Agron, Cynthia Addai-Robinson Naevia, Viva Bianca Ilithyia, Ellen Hollman Saxa, Barry Duffield Lugo, Anna Hutchison Laeta, Todd Lasance Caesar, Gwendoline Taylor Sibyl and MORE !!!
I could NOT be more excited, this show is by fav my favotire show. I liked it so much i spent a small fortune when the screen used items hit auction and I got my hands on Spartacus's armor (Liam's ) from the series finally. An armor that stand proud in the corner of my living room along side my posters signed by the cast.
Maryland - August 15 & 16, 2015 !!!!!
